Asian Longhorned Tick Webinar for Kentucky Livestock Producers Watch Party
The webinar will help cattle producers learn more about this invasive tick species, how to recognize potential problems in their herds and steps they can take to reduce risk. Asian longhorned ticks are a growing concern because large infestations can stress cattle and contribute to blood loss, poor performance and anemia. They can also transmit bovine theileriosis, a disease that damages red blood cells and may cause weakness, abortions, reduced productivity and, in some cases, death. The program will cover tick identification, sample submission, theileriosis, herd monitoring and practical prevention strategies.
